Corn should pop, not speakers

Dear Apple Support,

I see that I’m not alone in experiencing audio popping on my MacBook4,1 from August, 2008.

See this huge thread, and others on your support forum.

I just noticed it now because I’ve switched from a G5 to a MacBook as the forthcoming 10.6 will not run on my G5. Thus, I’ve got the MacBook front and center on my desk plugged into my large monitor and external speakers. Pop, pop, pop, all day long.

You’ve really got to do something about this as this is a long-standing problem. Please.

Thank you,

…Tom

Snap, Crackle, and Pop assassinatedP.S. Here’s an article from MacUser from two friggin’ years ago! Come on Apple, get your <bleep> together and get this fixed. I know you know how to do it. I’m at a loss to understand why you won’t.

I don’t expect perfection, I expect ownership

I use this blog to point out that the shine on the Apple is starting to fade. Tarnish is showing in many places. Why do I do this? Because I’m a heavy user of your products, and have been since my first Macintosh 128K I bought on March 1, 1984. I would really like to see a higher quality standard than what I’ve been seeing lately. Entropy is really setting in with your products. I know you can do better.

Countless times you guys screw up and fail to admit your mistakes. It can take weeks, months, and even years before enough irate customers force you to offer extended warranties (although you sometimes keep them hidden). Sometimes we just have to live with the pain. I’m not going to go through the litany of problems here. It would take too long. Readers can just browse your support forums to get a taste.

No company creating such complex products can be expected to be perfect. Sometimes perfection is a matter of opinion. All I expect of any company is that they admit they made a mistake, take ownership for it, correct it at their expense, and have the decency to offer an apology.

Is that too much to ask? Apparently it’s not enough for some folks.

The Apple Protection Racket

$$$

After looking at those incremental upgrades of the Mac Mini, iMac, and Mac Pro, I was wondering about buyer’s remorse and what would happen if I had purchased a new Mac before the announcement.

While it may be tempting to purchase a Mac directly from you, I would do so only if it was not a stock configuration. The main reason, aside from a bit of convenience of ordering online without leaving my home (offset by the need to be home when the package arrives), is price protection.
